Consultations

Consultations and wedding tastings are relaxed appointments to discuss your cake or cupcakes for your special event. We schedule consultations for all events such as weddings, fondant covered cakes, cupcake towers, and anything which would be beyond occasion cakes such as favors. They are not necessary for occasion cakes, cakes with fondant accents, or cupcakes with extras.  

In some cases we may be able to schedule a phone consultation.  These would be scenarios such as ordering directly off of the website, a basic service such as a cupcake tower with cupcakes from the menu and no cake, if you have a picture of exactly what you are looking for, or if you are currently out of state.  We always suggest coming in for the appointment so that we can explain all options, as well as eliminate ambiguity as to design. 

Wedding consultations include a cupcake tasting.  Our current days for wedding tasting appointments are Thursday Evenings and Saturdays. They last for approximately one hour.  The tasting is a private appointment where we design your service specifically according to your details.  Simply email the bakery 6-8 flavors you would be interested in trying and we will have them specially made for your appointment. 

For consultations regarding other events, we can schedule them most afternoons as they require less time.  They last about a half an hour.  Your service is also custom designed according to your details. We do not do on the spot consultations, please do not expect to have a full length consultation without an appointment.

Please bring any type of inspiration to your appointment including patterns, colors, fabrics, invitations, or most ideas. This is essential to making your service the most unique and interesting as possible. It is imperative that we have some direction, for instance 'sports' is too broad as there are many different directions. 'My son loves the Eagles, or plays soccer and his uniform is blue and yellow' or 'My wedding colors are pink and brown and we would like to incorporate this specific type of flower' would be a good starting point. Your service is designed according to your specific taste, never from a binder of other people's cakes.

After your consultation, we sit down and generate a contract for your event which includes a breakdown of your cake, terms, and any additional information. We will also sketch your event if necessary. You will be emailed the contract within a week of your appointment, usually sooner. Half of the contract is due to book the cake, the remainder is due two weeks prior. If you decide at the time of the consultation that you would like us to produce your service, a $100 deposit can be paid up front to ensure the date is available.  Please note that a signed contract without a deposit does not book your service.
