Velvet Sky Bakery and the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House

The bakery has designated the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses our corporate charity.  Multiple time s per year, we work with the PRMH special events to provide cupcake towers for the Share a Night celebrations, as well as for their recent 35th Birthday Extravaganza.  Most recently on 22 December 2009 the bakery participated in the Guest Chef Program, preparing dinner for for the Front and Erie House. 

The Ronald McDonald Houses provide temporary housing for families with children needing medical care at regional hospitals in Philadelphia.  Between the Front and Erie House and the Chestnut Street House, they provide lodging for up to sixty families in suite like rooms within the houses.  There are also transportation, meals, and dining facilities provided at no cost for the residents.  No family is turned away, regardless of ability to pay the reduced rate of only $15 per night.  Approximately 90% of the funding for the houses both here and across the country comes from individual donations.
